Lily bulbs are used to moisten the lung, clear heat, relieve coughs, dry throats and other respiratory conditions. It also is used to treat insomnia and heart palpitations.
Lily bulbs can be used alone, or in combination with other herbs as formulas.
Hawthorn Berry
This berry is very popular in Chinese Medicine. Widely used to prevent and treat various cardiovascular problems and lower bad cholesterol levels, by promoting blood circulation and dispersing blood stasis.
Often used together with Dan Shen (Salvia root), cooked Da Huang (Rhubarb root) and Shou Wu (Polygoni Multiflori root).
Pears are sweet and cold in nature.
Pears moisten the lungs and large intestines and eliminate sputum. In Chinese Medicine, we use pear for cough, asthma and dry phlegm caused by heat or Yin deficiency. For this purpose, pear should be used in cooked form, boiled or steamed. We should eat the pear and drink all the liquid.
Pear also is good for constipation, should be eaten raw with the skin on and when not overripe. The best way to eat pear is on an empty stomach.
Apples are sour and sweet in taste and cool in nature.
Apple balances lung function, and nourishes the skin. It helps dry throat, dry mouth and dry skin since the lung dominates the skin and the opening and closing of the pores, according to Chinese Medicine theory.
Apple also helps the digestive function. Cooked apple treats diarrhea, and raw apple relieve constipation. Eating one apple per day can improve the immune system and clear toxins from the liver, keeping the doctor away.
